Executive Director’s Remarks
The AJA Conference & Jail Expo

Over the past year, AJA has hosted numerous training seminars, leadership academies, and the Jail Executive Institute—all with the same focus, local corrections.
The AJA Conference & Jail Expo in Fort Worth, TX, was a tremendous success. I am pleased to share that we had over 750 attendees joining us - representing some of the finest professionals in local corrections.
This year’s conference was packed with opportunities. From insightful workshops to dynamic networking events—there was something for everyone. And if you’ve attended in recent years, you’ll notice—we’ve turned up the fun factor on our networking events and Fort Worth was no exception.
Our Expo Hall sold out for the second year in a row. It was filled with vendors offering innovative products and services designed to enhance the safety and operations of your facilities.
If you attended our conference, you saw a diverse group of professionals, a wide range of workshop topics, and an Expo Hall full of solutions—but everything here has one unifying focus: jails. That’s what makes AJA and our conference so unique and valuable.
Whether you’re flipping through our award-winning magazine or engaging in discussions on iConnect, it’s all about jails. Over the past year, AJA has hosted numerous training seminars, leadership academies, and the Jail Executive Institute—all with the same focus, local corrections.
AJA has accomplished a great deal this past year, thanks to our dedicated staff and the leadership of our now Past President, Shawn Laughlin, MCJ, CJM. Shawn was a bold and strategic leader, tackling tough challenges and leaving AJA stronger than ever.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, our host agency. Their dedication and hard work were instrumental in making our conference a success.
Stay engaged with AJA—there’s much more to come.
