Shaun Klucznik, MA, CJM
Jail Administrator Hernando County Sheriff's Office Brooksville, Florida
Hello, my name is Shaun Klucznik, MA, CJM. I currently serve as the Jail Administrator for the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. I am also the current 2nd Vice President of the American Jail Association. I am an AJA Certified Jail Manager, and I earned a Master’s Degree in Philosophy from Saint John Vianney College Seminary.Hello, my name is Denise Diamond, BA, CJM. I am a Captain with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office where I have worked for over 23 years. I currently serve as the MCSO Corrections Compliance Manager where I manage projects and compliance work including PREA. I enjoy teaching classes focused on skills-based learning, especially for the American Jail Association. I am a Jail Inspector through the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association and a certified DOJ PREA Auditor.
I decided to enter the field of corrections and make it my career because...
it was complete luck that I got into corrections. I saw a former co-worker of mine walk into my workplace wearing a Detention Deputy uniform. I asked a few questions and applied to that agency the next day. Once I got into the position, I knew I made the right choice. I made corrections a career because I loved the daily challenges faced while working in a jail.I liked the variety of assignments and positions available. It keeps things interesting for an avid learner. There is never a dull moment.
My favorite way to relax is...
taking day trips with my wife and daughter and spending time in prayer.to go on vacation, somewhere warm and sunny. Since that can’t always be, reading a good book or making a scrapbook of past adventures helps me to relax.
One item from my personal "bucket list" is to...
take my wife to where I grew up in Boston, MA. We are planning a trip there for Saint Patrick’s Day 2025.
My motto is...
How you react to a situation is a choice.
I am most proud of...
being a father to my beautiful daughter. She has exceeded my greatest expectations.
The most unusual job I’ve ever had was...
I’ve only had two jobs, I worked in grocery and in corrections, so corrections is the most unusual job I’ve had. Every day is different in corrections.
I felt it was important to be a member of AJA and serve on the board because...
I wanted to offer my services and experience to what I consider the most valuable resource to those working in local jails. I wanted to be on the cutting edge in helping to steer the future of our profession. It’s an absolute honor to be serving as AJA’s 2nd Vice President.
Three people living or deceased I'd invite to dinner are...
Jesus Christ, Ronald Reagan, and Jocko Willink.
The hardest thing I've ever done is...
in 2022, I had the opportunity to attend the FBI National Academy session 283. Being away from my family for 10 weeks was the hardest thing I’ve done. It was an amazing experience.
My favorite meal is...
Fettuccini Alfredo with my wife’s homemade Alfredo sauce (no one can beat it).
You would be surprised to learn that...
I’ve worked in local corrections for 26 years. I started this line of work when I was 19.
One piece of advice that I would give anyone considering correction as a career is...
never stop developing yourself. Do not depend on your agency or organization to develop you. Take advantage of opportunities your agency may offer, but you are responsible for your personal development.
