Board Profile

Mané Martirosyan, MSSW, CSW

Louisville Metro Department of Corrections Louisville, Kentucky

Hello, my name is Mané Martirosyan, MSSW, CSW. I am currently an Executive Administrator at Louisville Metro Department in Kentucky, where I’ve spent the last 20 years of my employment. I oversee the Records and Classification Departments, as well as Services/Social Programs for incarcerated individuals. I am also a part-time lecturer at the University of Louisville.

I decided to enter the field of corrections and make it my career because...

it needs continuous improvements for both the incarcerated individuals and the professionals working in it.

My favorite way to relax is...

feeling the sunshine on my skin as I look at some beautiful palm trees!

One item from my personal "bucket list" is to...

to travel to Japan.

My motto is...

“Be the change you wish to see.”

I am most proud of...

not allowing fear and doubt to control my decisions and keep me in my comfort zone.

The most unusual job I’ve ever had was...

going to different stores and inventorying the merchandise.

I felt it was important to be a member of AJA and serve on the board because...

I wanted to connect and work with my colleagues on a national level so I could be part of larger projects that can improve our field.

Three people living or deceased I'd invite to dinner are...

Plato, Leonardo Da Vinci, and my mom (just so that she can meet them too)

The hardest thing I've ever done is...

leaving everything familiar behind to move to a new country to call it my home.

My favorite meal is...

Armenian stuffed grape leaves.

You would be surprised to learn that...

I love being in the water, but I can’t swim and am terrified when my feet don’t touch the ground, or I’m not hanging on to something/someone, so don’t leave me alone in the water!

One piece of advice that I would give anyone considering correction as a career is...

it won’t be easy, but you’ll become more than you knew you could be. The challenges make us into better versions of ourselves.
